I like usual strangers.
My lady, my brother and I have met many through the years in our daily walks. We never know their names but it’s always nice to run into them everyday.
But I want to talk about the not-so-nice type of strangers.
I mean that dude you see every morning in the elevator or that lady at the coffee shop. They never smile so you never say hello very enthusiastically. It’s actually uncomfortable running into them.
Do you have a stranger like that in your daily routine? He is too serious or she looks like she’s got an attitude, therefore you don’t bother breaking the ice.
I understand. What if you smile at them and they don’t respond back nicely?
You got a lot to loose!
Wrong!
You have everything to gain. Experience has proven me that rude strangers are in desperate need of some kindness.
And do you know what?
You can give it to them!
And do you know what else?
It’s going to make you feel good (this is not a non-profit project, we all benefit!).
From now on running into that stranger of yours is going to be pleasant and who knows? you may even become more than strangers!
What?
Do you think that this one stranger you see when you walk your dog is really incapable of smiling and being nice?
What if you are right?
No biggie!
It’s their loss, not yours! But it’s worth the try. Believe me. I’ve experienced it.
So here is a great exercise to pack up some strength and good energy into you:
Just pick that rude stranger in your life and smile at them next time you see them. Then surprise them with a “hello, how are you today?”
Let me know how it goes!
Take care and spread your niceness to strangers around you!
I will try and let you know!!!
Thanks Felipe!
